The Project
Ascendent Demolition successfully completed the demolition of Lincoln School, a significant historical landmark in Seattle, WA. The structure consisted of three distinct sections: the central wing (built 1906), north wing (built 1914), and south wing (built 1930), totaling over 200,000 square feet. The project required specialized handling of the exterior historical elements including brick, terra cotta, and sandstone, as well as interior historical features such as plaster, terrazzo flooring, and decorative ornaments. Our comprehensive scope included abatement of 40,000 square feet and 20,000 linear feet of asbestos materials, decommissioning and removal of underground storage tanks, and lead abatement. The project also involved careful salvage operations to preserve valuable historical items for future preservation or repurposing, maintaining the cultural legacy of this Seattle landmark while preparing the site for future development.
